On 23 May, over 140 trade unionists, campaigners and human rights activists packed Unite the Union’s Discus Hall to pledge their support for democracy in Brazil and oppose the right-wing coup against President Dilma Rousseff’s democratically elected government.
Among the speakers on the night were Unite Assistant General Secretary Tony Burke, Stop The War’s Lindsey German, Brazilian campaigner Nara Fillipon, Julia Felmanas from the Brazilian Workers’ Party and Dr Francisco Dominguez from Middlesex University’s Department for Latin American Studies.
